Immaculately restored to its original elegance, the home was built in 1885 by Dr. and Mrs. Nathen Cass.
Mrs. Cass, a Randolph from Virginia, is the owner's (Rosalind Brinkley) distant cousin.
It was described by the architect as "nu plus extra," meaning everything possible was added.

This million-dollar property is famous for its architecture and the hand-carved animals adorning the corners of each door frame. Each mammal is different ; all have a similar shaped mouth.
Most suites use duvets and sheets by Italy's Sferra Brothers fine linens, which are used in the Vatican. The antique, gold-foiled, lithographed wall coverings are by Bradbury. They are registered at the Smithsonian, and used at the White House and in other stately residences. Silk drapes, with the patterns from the Eastlake era are used throughout the national register home.
